Research Coordinator – DataLABOR
Renato Miguel do Carmo is an associate professor in the sociology department of ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon and a researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte). He is currently Director of the Observatory of Inequalities and Research Coordinator at CoLABOR. Topics such as social and territorial inequalities, the welfare state, labour and employment, public policies, space mobility, and social capital have been the main themes of his research and of the projects he has coordinated and coordinates. Recently he was published in the magazines: European Societies, Journal of Civil Society, Sociologia Ruralis, Time & Society, Sociological Research Online, Geoforum, Community Development, European Planning Studies, among others. He published 26 books (18 as editor and 8 as author and co-author). He chairs the working group on social inequality indicators of the Superior Statistical Council – Permanent section of social statistics (INE). Since the conclusion of his PhD, he has received several scientific awards.
