Research Coordinator – Line of Work, Employment and Technology

TIAGO SANTOS PEREIRA, PhD in Science and Technology Policy Studies by SPRU, University of Sussex, is Principal Investigator of the Centre for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra, where he is Co-Coordinator of the Doctoral Program ‘Governance, Knowledge and Innovation’. His research, with approaches from the Social Studies of Science and Technology (STS) and Innovation Studies, focuses on science and technology policies and governance and the processes of knowledge circulation and intermediation between the public research sector, companies, public decision-making processes and society. His research has focused on both the Portuguese context, and the European and international contexts. He is currently part of the CoLABOR team of researchers, coordinating the Work, Employment and Technology area.

Between 2015 and 2018 he was the Coordinator of the Studies and Strategy Office of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). He is Vice-Chair of the OECD Working Party on Innovation and Technological Policy (TIP), having also been a National Delegate to the OECD’s Scientific and Technological Policy Committee (CSTP). He was Executive Director of the Centre for Social Studies and Vice President of its Scientific Council. In addition to his research work, he has collaborated with several institutions in the area of ​​S&T policies, namely with the European Commission, UNESCO, FCT, CYTED, Science Europe. He was National Delegate to the Committee on ‘Socio-Economic Sciences and Humanities’ of the 7th European Research Framework Program, and a member of the Network Board of the ERA-NET NORFACE network, representing FCT.
