Bárbara Ferreira has a degree in Political Science and International Relations (FCSH/ UNL), a Master's in International Development and Cooperation (ISEG/ ULisboa) and is a PhD candidate in Economic and Organizational Sociology (ISEG/ ULisboa).

Since 2011, she has participated in various national and international research and public policy evaluation projects, focusing on the areas of Urban Studies, Migration, Gender Studies, Community Development and Social and Solidarity Economy. She teaches on the postgraduate courses in Community Development and Social and Solidarity Economy (IPPS/ ISCTE-IUL).
