João Vasco Lopes has an integrated master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and a master's degree in Public Policy from ISCTE-IUL. He was a Space Operations Engineer at the European Space Agency (ESA) for several years, and has also worked as a project manager and in charge of Earth Observation in the private sector in Portugal.

He has developed studies and publications mainly in the areas of work, employment and technologies, as well as the evaluation of public policies.

He worked in the Strategy and Studies Office of the Ministry of Economy and as a Technical Specialist in the Office of the Secretary of State for Infrastructure.

He is a Visiting Assistant Professor at ISCTE-Sintra, where he teaches the course Labor and Employment in the Digital Society.

Researcher at CoLABOR since 2019, where he has held the position of Executive Director since February 2023.
