CoLABOR is part of the consortium of the international project REMAKING (Copy)

The REMAKING Project, funded by the European Commission, aims to analyze Remote Working (RW) in order to provide policymakers with a more holistic and balanced view of the opportunities and associated risks, especially with regard to the effects on rural areas and cities far from major centers.

Through a participatory research approach, the project examines four specific forms of RT - digital nomadism, post-pandemic, high-skilled workers in high-tech sectors and forced remote workers - and their effects on rural localities and second-tier cities in seven countries, including Portugal.

 CoLABOR is leading Work Package 4 (WP4) entitled "Economic and Social Effects of Remote Working", which has four main objectives:

 1. Evaluate the changes in the labor market resulting from the adoption of different modalities of RT and their effects on local employment conditions;

2. Examine the socio-economic impacts on local populations, with a special focus on the effects on housing prices and social mobility patterns;

3. Analyze the patterns of economic, cultural and institutional restructuring brought about by new local demographics, stimulating entrepreneurial and cultural activities and promoting new forms of knowledge sharing;

4. Assess the changes in travel practices and the demand for new mobility services resulting from the increase in TR, including the environmental implications and the provision of collective mobility services.
