Rita Catarina Gomes has a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon, a degree in Environmental Engineering and a master's degree in Environmental Planning from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

During her professional career, she has worked in various areas and contexts, both academic and in non-governmental organizations, carrying out research, science management, organizing scientific events and organizing participatory sessions.

Since 2018, and until she joined the CoLABOR team in March 2023, she worked at the Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, advising the coordination - both of the CES delegation in Lisbon and the coordination of the Observatory on Crises and Alternatives - and supporting the management of applications, contracts and events promoted in the context of CES activities taking place in Lisbon.
