Rui Roberto Ramos

Rui Roberto Ramos, PhD in Digital Innovation from Lancaster University - UK, Master of Research in the same area from the same institution and Degree in Informatics and Business Management from the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE). His research is post-structuralist, covering the disciplines of Organizational Studies (OS), Science and Technology Studies (STS) and Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D), with a particular interest in ethnographic approaches of critical sensitivity focused on the interaction between technology (lato sensu) and the organizational context and its effects on socio-economic development. Her PhD is based on a year-long ethnographic study of informal street commerce and the formalization of this sector in Recife, Brazil, with a critical focus on the role that technologies play in this context. Her areas of interest include, but are not limited to, informality and organizational formalization, digital materiality and performativity, innovation (digital, frugal, open, inclusive), organizational and urban ethnography, post-development and the Global South.
