CoLABOR Days 2022
PRESS RELEASE
STUDY ON WAGE TRENDS AND WAGE INEQUALITY PRESENTED TODAY AT THE COLLABORATIVE DAYS
Inflation has canceled out the real increase in average and median wages since 2018.
This is one of the conclusions of the CoLABOR study "Wages in Portugal: patterns of evolution, inflation and inequalities", which was analyzed using indicators available on DataLABOR, the largest database of statistics and legal information on work, employment and social protection in Portugal.
The study analyzes the evolution of the real value of wages since the beginning of the millennium and the wage inequalities associated with gender, nationality, contractual precariousness and educational qualifications of workers in the different sectors of economic activity.
This study and version 2.0 of the DataLABOR database will be presented on the morning of Monday, December 12, at the CoLABOR 2022 Conference at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
The CoLABOR 2022 Days are organized annually by CoLABOR, the Collaborative Laboratory for Work, Employment and Social Protection and this year's theme is "Work: asymmetries and socio-economic change".
The CoLABOR 2022 Conference will be attended by experts from the fields of sociology, economics and law, as well as representatives of trade unions and employers' confederations, who will discuss wage policies and collective bargaining.
The closing ceremony will be attended by Francisco Assis, president of the Economic and Social Council, Leonor Sottomayor, representative of Sonae and Manuel Carvalho da Silva, coordinator of CoLABOR.
