CoLABOR, in partnership with OSCE RFoM, organizes conference on "Democracy and the Safety of Journalists"
The current panorama of the media sector and journalism - both internationally and nationally - calls for a joint effort to provide tools for reflection, involving relevant actors and defining guidelines that strengthen journalism and its crucial role in our society.
In this context, CoLABOR, in partnership with OSCE RFoM, with the support of the Journalists' Union and with the High Patronage of His Excellency, the President of the Republic, is organizing the conference "Democracy and the Safety of Journalists", to be held on October 17 in Lisbon, with the aim of strengthening the fundamental links between journalism and democracy.
This event, which has Jornal de Notícias as a media partner, will bring together various discussion panels, with the participation of international speakers, researchers, journalists and political decision-makers.
The main objectives of the conference are:
I. Promote comprehensive and enriching reflection aimed at journalists, stakeholders, political actors, researchers and civil society in general;
II. Reinforce the importance of debating the sector's critical challenges, raising its presence on the political agenda;
III. To present the OSCE RFoM Journalists' Safety Toolbox, making it available to journalists, stakeholders, political actors, researchers and civil society in Portugal.
