CoLABOR hosted a meeting of the European INCA project to discuss the impact of big tech in Europe

CoLABOR organized the consortium meeting of the INCA project - an initiative funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe program - in Lisbon from April 9 to 11. The meeting brought together researchers from nine European countries to debate the effects of the big US technology companies - Google, Amazon, Meta, Apple and Microsoft - on European societies and economies.

The INCA project represents a joint effort to understand the multiple dimensions of big tech 's influence in Europe. Among the main topics addressed were the growing dependence on digital services imported from the US, the impact of these companies on the world of work, their lobbying strategies with European institutions, and the public perception of European citizens about their power and actions.

With two years of research, the project is a significant contribution to the debate on the digital transition and the need to strengthen Europe's technological and regulatory autonomy.

CoLABOR's role in organizing this meeting, and as a partner in the consortium, reinforces its commitment to the production of critical and interdisciplinary knowledge on contemporary social and economic challenges.
