Contribution of CoLABOR researchers to the national strategy to combat poverty

A group of researchers from CoLABOR took part in the public consultation of the preliminary version of the national strategy to combat poverty, which ended last Monday. This group produced and submitted a document on the ConsultaLEX portal with a set of suggestions, which is intended to be a constructive contribution to improving the strategy.

Among other things, the group mentions the need for strategy:

  • integrate an adequate reflection on the characteristics and causes of poverty in Portugal and the impacts of the policies implemented in recent decades in this area;

  • distinguish between structural and mitigation measures and explain how they will be linked;

  • define targets and indicators of achievement;

  • identify the entity responsible for its implementation, how it will operate and what resources will be allocated to it.

The document submitted by CoLABOR researchers can be consulted here.
