CoLABOR Days 2021

PRESS RELEASE

Tomorrow, November 4, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the CoLABOR, promotes the international meeting "Work in the Climate and Digital Transitions".

The CoLABOR 2021 Conference is part of the activities carried out by its lines of research, more specifically the work carried out in the areas of teleworking, the automotive sector and the impact of covid-19 on retirement homes.

CoLABOR, the Collaborative Laboratory for Work, Employment and Social Protection, and its associates are putting the debate on the impact of the climate and digital transitions on work on the agenda.

The CoLABOR Days aim to contribute to the reflection and qualification of the public debate on the repercussions on working and employment conditions, social protection and labor regulation of these changes which, accelerated by the pandemic crisis, have firmly established themselves on the agenda.

The event will feature two international keynote speakers, Pamela Meil, from the Institute for Social Science Research in Munich, and David Mosler, from the International Labour Organization, both with extensive experience in studying the impact of technology on work and employment, and will bring together leaders, workers' representatives and renowned experts in their field to present their perspectives on "Decent work in the climate and digital transitions" and "Social protection and work regulation in a context of technological and organizational change". The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, will give the opening speech, and the Minister of State and the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, will close the meeting.

With this meeting, CoLABOR and its members intend to deepen the debate at national level on relevant current issues, such as the need to invest in new technologies, the country's reindustrialization within the framework of reterritorialized global value chains, job creation with decent working conditions and a more equal distribution of income, thus positioning themselves as actors with an active role on the national and European agenda.
