Summary
FUTOURWORK aims to transform the future of work in the tourism sector (Tourism and Hospitality, T&H) by researching and promoting inclusive social dialogue and addressing the growing concerns related to platform work, job insecurity and workers' well-being. This is an initiative that seeks to bring new perspectives to the way labor issues are addressed in the sector. Tourism and hospitality is a vital sector of the European economy, employing 13 million people (11.7% of all jobs), with a high proportion of women, migrants and young people, and a worrying 1.2 million vacant jobs.

Led by the University of Westminster (UK), FUTOURWORK brings together a consortium of eight partners from six countries, including CoLABOR (Portugal), Universidade Lusófona (Portugal), Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania), The American College of Greece (Greece), Dalarna University (Sweden), Zangador Research Institute (Bulgaria) and Equality in Tourism International (UK).

The project will directly involve workers, employers and social dialogue actors/organizations through multiple activities, such as surveys, interviews, storytelling initiatives andmulti-stakeholder learning dialogues.

FUTOURWORK will produce a workers' well-being index to benchmark practices in the sector, a documentary presenting the stories of T&H workers, and an online observatory/platform that acts as a one-stop shop where workers can find out about their rights and which promotes ongoing debates between stakeholders. These initiatives will make a significant contribution to scientific knowledge, to raising public awareness and to promoting political change with a view to improving working conditions in the tourism sector.
