Summary
Gender inequality is a multidimensional phenomenon which, in all European countries and specifically in Portugal, penalizes women in various spheres of life in society. Although the growing feminization of the workforce is seen as an important process in promoting equal status between men and women, making them financially independent and guaranteeing them a set of rights associated with employment, the labour market functions as a field in which inequalities of resources and opportunities are (re)produced. One of the materializations of inequalities of opportunity and one of the factors contributing to unequal pay for men and women are the "glass ceilings", i.e. the invisible barriers that limit women's access to management positions. This trend is widespread in European countries (with varying incidences) and restricts the full development of women's skills and talent, which has negative consequences for their well-being and the economy.

The general aim of the study is to analyze gender inequalities in access to management positions and in remuneration for this type of profession, but also to determine the social, economic and institutional factors that shape these phenomena. To this end, a multi-scalar analysis will be developed, combining quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches, through which it will be possible to answer a set of questions.
