Summary
The evaluation of the functional content of jobs plays a fundamental role in promoting equal pay for women and men, due to the fact that jobs typically performed by women tend to be less valued and worse paid than those mostly performed by men.

This is due first and foremost to prejudices and stereotypes regarding the value and content of female-dominated work, the inadequacy of traditional job evaluation methods, but also to the lower bargaining power of women who, despite a significant increase, are still less represented in decision-making positions.

By evaluating the functional content of different jobs on the basis of common and comparable criteria, it is possible to identify and correct any inequalities in remuneration based on gender bias.
